Mission
The mission of the master’s degree in either Human Performance or Human Environmental Sciences with an emphasis in Sport Management is to provide students with a quality education in a nurturing environment, which fosters mutual respect, collegiality, empowerment, and professional growth. An interdisciplinary academic approach will be employed to prepare graduates for successful careers in the ever-expanding sport industry.

Program Overview
Faculty members from the College of Education (COE) and the College of Human Environmental Sciences (CHES) have developed a graduate level emphasis in Sport Management at The University of Alabama. Through this collaborative arrangement, a cost effective 36-hour degree program will prepare students for employment in key Sport Management positions.

The graduate student will have the option to enroll in either of these graduate degree programs:
  • Master of Arts, Human Performance (COE)
  • Master of Science, General Studies in Human Environmental Science (CHES)

The Sport Management emphasis is designed to educate students to manage in a wide variety of sport arenas. The course curriculum will provide students with a theoretical knowledge of the various aspects of the business and social elements of Sport Management. This theoretical knowledge will be complemented with field experiences in appropriate settings.

The University of Alabama Sport Management emphasis has met the rigorous curriculum standards for masters curricula set forth by the Sport Management Program Review Council (SMPRC) and endorsed by the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM).
